The Feldenkrais Method – Awareness Through Movement lessons
with Kate Hilder
“When you know what you are doing, then you can do what you want”. Moshe Feldenkrais
The Feldenkrais Method encourages ease and freedom in everyday movement, improves posture and co-ordination and can alleviate muscular pain. Lessons take place lying on the floor, following spoken instructions from the teacher. Through exploring different movement sequences we engage our curiosity and become more aware of our movement habits. Its through this increased awareness that we experience new movement possibilities which can free us from tension and bring about a greater sense of well-being. The method can improve many everyday activities such as walking, reaching, turning, bending and breathing as well as skills such as running, swimming, dancing, playing an instrument or singing. These classes are accessible to adults of all ages and movement abilities.
Kate is in her 4th and final year of the Feldenkrais Teacher Training Programme in Lewes. She also teaches improvised physical theatre and has been offering regular classes in Brighton and London for the past 8 years.
