Running Club
We all want to be able to run faster and better with fewer injuries and more energy. For any runner to perform at their best it is important that they run efficiently, allowing their body to use as little energy on each step as possible, whilst maintaining the required stride length and cadence
To improve your time you must lengthen your stride, increase your cadence or both, using a combination of improved strength, fitness and proper running technique. Working on technique improvements, in combination with a structured training program will help you get the most from your running performances.
No matter what distance you are trying to run there are always improvement you can make to reduce the chances of injury, increase race times or improve recovery times.
We recommend these courses to anyone with at least two seasons of running experience and of generally good health and fitness. The courses are designed to improve your overall fitness, training ability and teach you how to train smart rather than just over training with a ‘train hard’ plan.
This is an ideal course for anyone wanting to improve on their Personal Best finish times in all competitive races.
Week 1
5km Time Trial
Week 2-5
Series of progressively challenging intervals based around the 500m, 1000m or 1500m distances which will be achieved at faster than race pace. Sessions will include race planning, technique advice, warm up, training drills and recovery plans.
Week 6
5km Time Trial. To see how much you have improved your potential for a personal best and plan your programme for the coming weeks of training. We are looking to train faster times and easier, more pain free races.
Throughout the year we will also be running workshops looking closer as ‘training theory’ periodisation, Borg Scale and tapering. There will also be a Q&A clinic with Ian Leitch and Darren Connaghan. Sports Nutrition and Injury Taping Workshops are also great tools for any runners wanting to broaden their expertise in the sport.
