Sport Massage Therapist
Anna Hopcroft graduated from UWIC studying a sports science degree in 2005 and previously worked in the running industry as a footwear specialist and manager for 4 years. She is a level 3 athletics coach and tutor with over 11 years of experience coaching athletes. Anna came into sports massage after receiving treatment for a serious back injury whilst competing as an international athlete. The treatment she received led her to pursue a career in sports massage to work alongside her coaching and teaching skills to provide a superior working knowledge of body mechanics.
Anna trained as a therapist through Premier and ITEC and is a member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA- Level 3). Anna also tutors sports massage at the Wilbury School in Brighton. Anna is a strength and conditioning specialist trained through the British Weightlifting Association and UK Strength & Conditioning Association and has extensive experience in teaching weight lifting and Olympic lifting techniques. She uses these skills to provide her clients with superior functional rehabilitation programs. She currently works with Hayward’s Heath RFC and Sussex RFC providing pitch-side first aid and sports injury treatment.
As a member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA), Anna is dedicated to her further education and attends regular workshops and training days to remain up to date with current advanced techniques in the field. She is also trained as a Kinesio® taping certified practitioner for injury taping, this can help speed up recovery from injury and deal with muscle & postural imbalances. Anna is also a certified RockDoc® to tape using RockTape power taping for sports performance.
Sports massage services Anna can provide include the following techniques; Soft tissue release, Myofascial release, deep tissue massage, pre & post event massage, neuromuscular techniques, stretching (MET & PNF), mobilisation, sports first aid, sports strapping, Kinesio® taping & Rock® taping, rehabilitation programs, training programs, exercise instruction, running/gait assessment, postural assessment and sports footwear advice.
